Officer promotion policy overhaul coming in 2020

The Line of the Air Force Promotion Category Configuration proposes a new arrangement for Line of the Air Force AFSCs, categorizing them into six promotion categories. These categories represent the disciplines needed for future joint warfighting and allow for developmental competitive pathways that are optimized for each category.
