The B-2 "Spirit of Ohio" returns from a training mission, June 27. Onboard, Lt. Col. Dave Thompson who, with this mission, surpasses 1000 flying hours in a B-2 Stealth Bomber. Thompson joins an elite group, which includes his co-pilot Maj Kennish. Just two weeks prior, Maj Geoffrey Billingsley also flew past the 1000 flying hour mark. Only 31 pilots have ever reached 1000 B-2 hours, and just thirteen still actively fly the B-2 Stealth Bomber. Seven of these elite pilots are 131st Bomb Wing Missouri Air National Guard members at Whiteman Air Force Base: Lt. Col. Rhett Binger, Lt. Col. Mike Pyburn, Lt. Col. Dave Thompson, Maj. The 131st, 509th, and 442nd Medical Groups participated in a simulated radioactive bombing exercise to training Airmen for real world situations at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., Dec 3, 2016. Retired 131st Bomb Wing Senior Master Sgt. Bob Weber credits his wife, Thomasine Weber, for providing social resiliency support to help him recover from injuries and following the loss of a fellow Missouri Guard member to an improvised explosive device during a deployment to Afghanistan. Weber was selected to lead five Air National Guard Airmen and 58 Missouri Army National Guard Soldiers as convoy escorts to ADT-IV in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan. A goat and sheep farmer and a member of the Missouri National Guard, Army Sgt. 1st Class Robert W. Pharris went to Afghanistan with Missouri’s Agri-Business Development Team-IV (ADT-IV) in 2010 to encourage agriculture infrastructure development in the war-torn country, and was killed in action by a roadside bomb Jan. 5, 2011.
