From Jennies to jets to bombers, the Missouri Air National Guard's 131st Bomb Wing has a rich history that dates back to the early days of  aviation.  The 131st is the 8th oldest Air National Guard wing in the nation, founded by Missouri born aviators Maj. William Robertson and his brothers Lieutenants Frank and Dan Robertson.  Federally recognized in Saint Louis on June 23, 1923, the wing is currently celebrating its 95th year of service to the citizens of Missouri and the nation.

The 131st's primary operational mission is to provide full spectrum, expeditionary, B-2 global strike  and combat support capabilities. Wing manpower is also dedicated to providing for the unit's overall combat readiness, base operating support functions for tenant and attached units, and for performing combat and emergency duty in support of federal and state missions.

The wing is headquartered at Whiteman Air Force Base on the western side of Missouri. The 157th Air Operations Group and mission support elements are based at Jefferson Barracks Air National Guard Base in Saint Louis. The 131st is the only nuclear certified Air National Guard wing and flies the B-2 Spirit Stealth bomber with its Total Force partner, the active duty 509th Bomb Wing.
