JEFFERSON BARRACKS, MO. -- Missouri Air National Guard's 231st Civil Engineering Flight held a change of command ceremony for its newest commander, Col. John C. Miget, here June 7, 2015.

Col. Michael J. Francis, 131st Bomb Wing commander, officiated the event.

Miget, a Perryville, Missouri, native, who most recently served as the 231st's chief of readiness, succeeds Col. Thomas J. Hayek, who retires with over 30 years of military service.  Fulltime, Miget is a command program manager at Scott Air Force Base.  He has served for more than 22 years in the Air National Guard along with 5 years in the active duty Air Force, including a tour at Whiteman Air Force Base, where the 131st Bomb Wing is primarily located.

"It is a great honor to be asked to take command of the 231st," Miget said. "It's an absolute privilege to lead a unit that is comprised of nearly 100 percent veterans of Operations OIF and OEF (Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom).

"I do not take my new responsibility lightly, especially considering the ever-increasing security threats throughout the world.  The 231st will be ready for duty, as it always was under Col Hayek's great leadership," Miget added.

The 231 CEF is a command staff augmentation unit that provides worldwide deployable engineer expertise.  The staff augmentation team (S-Team) also provides support to major command and numbered air force staffs for command and control of engineer forces, engineering projects and technical assistance. The 231st CEF is one of five S-Teams in the Air National Guard.
